DOGZ Festival
We introduced the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog breeds to the visitors!
Thank you for the opportunity.
It was a wonderful day.
One of the most spectacular events of the programme, the Bernese Mountain Dog pack walk, was opened and accompanied by none other than the Swiss Ambassador to Hungary.

The DOGZ Festival and Conference was held in Budapest’s City Park (Városliget), where visitors could enjoy, among other things, dog dancing, free veterinary advice and pets available for adoption

Participants could also meet Olympic champion épée fencer Siklósi Gergely and his dog
– As a diplomat, you could say I live a somewhat nomadic life, so I don’t have a dog of my own, but once I retire, I would definitely love a Bernese Mountain Dog. Together with the St Bernard, they strongly embody the qualities traditionally valued in Switzerland, such as loyalty and strength – Jean-François Paroz, the Swiss Ambassador to Hungary, told Blikk. – At the same time, keeping a dog is a big responsibility and takes a great deal of time, but if you have that, I think a dog can bring balance into our lives, and we can find wonderful companions – he added.
Among the festival’s participants, the Bernese Mountain Dog was one of the largest dogs; in front of one of the tents, owners gathered with their pets in a huge cluster. One of them stood out from the rest: Pazonyi Zsanett, dressed in traditional folk costume, popped up here and there behind the backs of the enormous dogs.

– They come from Switzerland; long ago, Roman legionaries brought them along. They were the all-rounders of farming families: during the day they worked with the family, pulling milk carts on the farms, and in the evening they stretched out by the fireplace. They are always wherever their owner is, like an extra child in the family. They can be any size from 35 to 60 kilos – we learned from the head of Magic Bernese Kennel, who has been breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs for almost 20 years and is herself the proud owner of five dogs.
