Seuso in everyday life
His proper name is Kappahegyi Ivanhoe, but since he comes from Polgárdi, where the Seuso Treasure was found, his name was a given. He is Zara’s brother; the two of them joined our pack and our family at almost the same time. I remember I was at freshers’ camp when Györgyi and Feri phoned to say we should meet in the car park in front of the university so they could show me the new teddy bear. He is a truly special dog. A Bernese blessed with the soul of a little Buddha. Incredibly calm, and nothing can ruffle him. Endlessly stubborn: if he doesn’t want to do something, he won’t do it for the world. Even so, he is a very obedient member of the family who understands you from half a word. I remember that before his first dog show I bathed him, and it rained at night, so we shut him in the garage for a few hours to protect his coat. In those few hours he tore open a bag of cement and painted most of the garage with a mixture of cement and water. We travelled all over Europe with him and achieved some lovely successes with him at a very young age. He wasn’t the typical dog born for the ring who enjoys the spotlight, but he always enjoyed the shows combined with trips. He put up with those few minutes of performing for the sightseeing that followed.
