Bella Anastazia has passed away

Last night, one more beautiful star began to shine in the sky….✨🌌

Many people tell us it’s easy for us, that we let a dog go easily because we have so many….that isn’t true. A few days ago I was just standing in the middle of the room where, in one corner, a life had just begun, while in the one next to it, the end of another was approaching unstoppably….it’s surreal to see the circle of life like this. The “beautiful” part of it all is that both little souls are the work of my own hands…but watching the light fade from the eyes of the dog I myself lifted out of her mother’s tummy…whose mother I had also raised from the age of 8 weeks…is unbelievably heartbreaking… Living through a perfectly healthy dog – who was still winning beauty titles in the ring in December – turning, in the space of 18 days, into a weak and fragile teddy bear who still wags her tail with the last of her strength…there are no words for that. Meanwhile, on the other side of this chain of events, a new little teddy bear is growing day by day. Life can sometimes be merciless…being a breeder isn’t only about the beautiful moments, the smiling photos, the teddy bears with perfectly groomed coats and the trips abroad. In moments like these, even the strongest soul breaks, because there is nothing else you can do. Taking my family member, who was getting worse day by day, from one examination to the next. Changing one drip after another, day and night. Waiting for the spinal and then the skull MRI results, taking a bone marrow sample, rushing it to the lab right across the city because I can get there faster than the courier. Every minute counts…. and hoping for a positive answer, that there is still time, that it will go just as it came…hoping she can still run in the veteran class on the green carpet at Cruft’s, where she had been entered months ago. The show we had prepared for so much, looking forward to our next adventure together. But fate wrote a different story, and these dreams fell apart hour by hour as that wretched disease consumed, cell by cell, all the life energy and happiness of this always happy and energetic Bernese. Words truly run out, and all that remains are tears and a broken soul…. Farewell, Bella…we’ll meet again one day! Look after your mum up there, and the others too…they must have been waiting for you so much if you had to hurry like this…
